This is my grandfather. His name is pronounced “Bill,” with a Chinese accent. Whoever registered his green card DEFINITELY was hooked on phonics.  

Don’t let his solemn face fool you. He’s a prank-loving, bad-ass. It’s funniest when my dad treats him like a 4 year old. 

Dad: “Who’s that (points to me)?” 

Grandfather:(no response)

Dad:”How many fingers am I holding up?”

Grandfather: (picks his nose)

At that point my dad gives up and explains to me how my grandfather’s brain is degenerating, usually with irrelevant medical terms that he’s heard at the doctor’s office. Then, after my dad leaves the room, my grandfather turns to me and says, “what is wrong with him?”
